Summer 2025 Check-In #1

Panther Band and Guard Family,

Happy summer! I hope everyone is enjoying some respite from the hustle and bustle of the school year. This check-in will be fairly dense, but we are grateful to have so much information to distribute so early in the summer.

A few important points for our first summer check-in:

Band Calendar

Please check the Google Calendar on our band website (https://www.lhpantherband.org/calendar) and sync it to your devices. Syncing it directly from Google is the best option, as any edits we make are immediately updated on your end. Keeping an accurate and updated calendar is a high priority for us as a director team and we want to make sure everyone knows where to find the most up-to-date information.

Physicals

ALL students must have a physical turned into the trainers prior to July 21. LHISD is still using Aktivate this year for uploading and tracking all athletic forms. Please handle this early! Forms and instructions can be found on the LHISD Athletic Training website.

Practice Tracks

Perhaps most exciting, we have all of our show music uploaded on the band website, on a password-protected page. The link to this page is https://www.lhpantherband.org/fall-2025, which you can also access on the main home page slider.

This page also has fully produced audio tracks of Part 1 and Part 2 for students to listen to (including the real drumline and front ensemble parts) and most importantly, links to a Google Drive that has practice tracks of Parts 1 and 2 for every instrument.

Practice tracks are individual audio files for every instrument that include that instrument, front ensemble music, and a metronome all in the audio file. They are meant to help our students become familiar with and learn their music over the summer so we can walk in as prepared as possible in July.

The practice tracks for Part 1 and Part 2 are written at two different tempi - a slower version for the learning process and a full tempo version for when students have mastered their music at the slower tempo. Practice tracks for Part 3 and 4 are not completed and I will send out another email when they are uploaded.

Open Band Hall/Panther Run Club

We are continuing our tradition of opening the band hall once per week this summer. This is a great opportunity for students to come hang out, continue getting to know their section mates and peers, get help on any of their music, and also take private lessons (if they are continuing to study over the summer - a great idea!). Our first Open Band Hall is this Thursday, June 5, from 9 AM to 2 PM.

We're also starting a new initiative this summer - the Panther Run Club! Panther Run Club is a low-pressure opportunity to begin building our physical fitness and stamina well before we show up for summer band in July.

Students can come, run/jog/walk a mile at their own pace, then we'll celebrate with popsicles for everyone. Panther Run Club will be every Thursday at 9 AM. We hope to see you there!

Carpool Interest Form

Parents, this is primarily for you, not only for summer band, but also as we continue to learn more about what our Friday rehearsal schedule will look like later in the school year.

On the band website, under the Forms menu, is a Carpool Interest Form where you can sign up if you are interested in carpooling students. We try to help interested parties find one another, especially in an organization with so many rehearsals and events.

We have never been more prepared this early as we are for Full Tilt and we can't wait to see this show come to life over these next few months. Stay on top of your preparation and we'll see you soon.
