What is Color Guard?

The Liberty Hill Color Guard is a team of athletes who perform choreographed dances and routines with various equipment as part of the Liberty Hill Panther Band organization. They travel and perform with the marching band at every football game, community performance, and contest.

The color guard's role within the marching ensemble is to visually represent the music. They are the primary "story-tellers" of the group. The guard performs this task using many tools including different styles of dance, a variety of equipment (flag, rifle, saber, prop, etc.), and by creating emotional connections to the audience to enhance the meaning and feeling of their show.

Why Join Color Guard?

Color Guard is a wonderful activity that combines athleticism with the art of music, dance, and theatrics. NO EXPERIENCE is needed to join! We will teach our new members everything they need to be a successful color guard team member. Being in band is not a requirement for color guard or winter guard.

Joining color guard means you will always be a part of our color guard and band family. The friendships you make during your time with our program will be ones that you treasure for a lifetime. We accept ALL our members for who they are!

Our entire team performs and is vital to the color guard's performances. If even one person is out of sync or missing, the entire team is impacted. The lessons you learn and skills you gain as a member of the Liberty Hill Color Guard will serve you for the rest of your life. Confidence, determination, patience, responsibility, sportsmanship, and humility are just some of the qualities we acquire as a member of the group.

What is Winter Guard?

For the spring semester, the color guard moves indoors and performs unaccompanied by the marching band. Shows are performed in gyms set to a piece of pre-recorded music using the same dance and equipment techniques learned in the fall. This activity is more commonly known as winter guard. The winter season spans from December through April. The Liberty Hill Winter Guard performs during the winter and spring at several contests.
